Week 7: Famous Last Words

Through reading and commenting on other students blog assignments and what they have completed of their storybooks I have noticed that we have a lot of really terrific writers! So many of my peers storybook introductions are impressive. I really enjoyed reading the ones where you really wanted to know what was going to happen next. I specifically remember one person who came up with the idea to create a hair salon where the ladies of the books we have read come to gossip! I would never have thought of something like that!

My other classes are going pretty well so far. I had a really rough week a couple of weeks ago where I had three huge, difficult exams over a three day period. It was not fun. But I did pretty well on them so I am happy! Some of my classes require a lot of busy work, which is something that I just do not enjoy because I feel like you do not really learn or benefit from it besides easy points. I like this class because the points are relatively simple to earn, but I wish that there was not an assignment due every day. That is a little overwhelming sometimes but the extra credit really really helps! I love that there is so much extra credit in this class. It is really a great idea for online classes because, even though the same responsibility is there on the student to “attend” class and complete every assignment, its nice to have a little cushion every once in a while when its crunch time in other classes! That saved my butt a when I had those exams so close together.

Other than classes, I just became a member of a social sorority on campus and I am over-the-moon excited about that. Also, I find out soon if I will be accepted to be a big sister in the Big Brother Big Sister organization, so thats pretty great too!

OU TX is in 11 days!

  1. Hi Mary. I've also had fun reading other people's storybook introductions. There are so many great ideas out there, some that I would have never thought of. Sounds like a rough week with all those exams! Don't hate me, but I haven't had like, any big exams this year, but that's because all the classes I'm in at this point are based on readings and like, two big papers. Except this one, of course. I agree that sometimes it's annoying to have to do something every day for this class - I wish I could just put it all off until the weekend. But, I guess it's also good that it keeps me in check so I don't get behind. Good luck with BBBS, that sounds like a really rewarding program.

  2. This is really random, but I love the structure of your blog! The background, your labels, everything looks great! I wish I had time to spend on my blog and make it look pleasing to the eye. I feel like I barely have time to think about the color scheme of my Storybook. Haha. I completely agree with you about having assignments due every night. It sucks, I usually put this class off and then rush home from work and spend time working on this class rather than Microbiology or Ochem, which should be taking more priority. I have been working ahead the past two weeks, and it actually has helped a lot. I try to finish all the assignments around Tuesday so I can focus on other things the rest of the week. You're also completely right about the extra credit. So thankful for that!

Good luck with school, your sorority, OU/TX, and Big Brother Big Sister! You got this :)

  3. It’s good that your classes seem to be going well. Good job on those tests! It always seems like all of the tests come at the same time, and those times can get extremely stressful. You sound like you’ve got everything under control, though! It’s great that you want to join the Big Brothers Big Sisters program! Hopefully you get to become a big sister to someone! Have a good week!

I have a little sister as well! We usually meet Mondays at Wilson! It is such a rewarding experience. I cannot wait to hear about yours!

  5. Hello Mary. I'm glad to hear that you did well on your tests, especially under those circumstances. I’ve taken those classes and they can be pretty difficult and stressful, but doing well is rewarding. I think it is really cool that you are trying to be part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Good luck with everything!
